Villa Jua

Watamu beach or Island of love

From Villa Jua, you’ll walk along a nice path in about four minutes to the Watamu sea. The beach is a place that’s simply enchanting and totally unspoiled. You’ll be greeted by a breathtaking view: soft white sand stretching endlessly, washed by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

What can you see on Watamu Beach?

If you look out to sea to the right, you’ll see the fishermen’s beach, which is dotted with simple and nice bars and restaurants. This stretch of beach was originally used as a refreshment point for small boats and as the starting point for local fishermen to brave the Indian Ocean in search of food for their families. These days, the beach is mainly used for tourists, but you can still see fishermen there, tending to their nets and boats.

The Island of Love

If you look out to sea to the left, you’ll see the Island of Love beach. It gets its name from the way the beach looks when the tide is high – it looks like a floating heart.

The Sun Palm resort overlooks the beach, and you can also ask for a sunbed there and enjoy the sea under the palm trees. Sun Palm has a beach restaurant and bar service.

When the tide’s low, you can walk to Papa Remo’s beach. Just be careful because if the tide rises, you’ll struggle to get back and will be forced to walk along the driveway.

Papa Remo’s beach

Just opposite the famous Island of Love, you’ll find the equally famous Papa Remo beach. It’s beautiful, well-equipped and has a bar and restaurant, similar to the Island of Love. You can reach it on foot from the sea or on the carriage road a few minutes from Villa Jua. On Saturday evenings, they organize fun evenings with a disco on the beach.

The restaurant service is excellent, and we highly recommend you go there at least once and enjoy the delicious local dishes with a great view.
